Avocado oil properties.
Avocado oil is rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, helping to increase good cholesterol (HDL) and decrease bad cholesterol (LDL). In addition, its abundant vitamin E content offers a wide range of benefits to the body.
Properties of vitamin E or Tocopherol.
Vitamin E or tocopherol is one of the 4 fat-soluble vitamins found in nature. Specifically, vitamin E from pure avocado oil provides us with the following benefits:
- Antioxidant properties, with the aim of preventing oxidative stress, which causes adverse effects on all cellular elements (membranes, cytoplasm, mitochondria, etc.).
- Anti-inflammatory properties, helping to reduce or minimise the production of substances that cause inflammation in the body.
- Improves fertilisation, as it is related to sex hormones.
- Improves healing.
- Prevention of premature ageing.
Prevents Vitamin E Deficiency
The absence of the consumption of oils such as olive oil or raw avocado oil, among others, can cause a vitamin E deficit, associated with the following effects:
- Headache.
- Dizziness.
- Diplopia (double vision).
What is the best avocado oil?
When we decide to buy avocado oil it is important to take into account the method of extraction of this. What is the reason? It must be a cold extraction, as heat will damage its properties. Also, choose those extracted only by mechanical processes.
You should also take into account that it should be 100% pure avocado oil, as you will benefit much more from its benefits than those oils that are sold under the premise of avocado oil, but have a low percentage of avocado oil in their essence and composition.
What is the advantage of avocado oil over other healthy oils?
The advantage of buying avocado oil is the temperature point that avocado oil can withstand compared to other oils when it comes to cooking, such as frying, sautéing or baking, keeping the health properties of avocado oil optimal.
Is this important? On many occasions we use oils that we consider to have a high capacity to provide us with certain benefits (polyphenols, carotenes, ...) but we do not take into account the disadvantages that appear with heat. The consequence of heat on these oils is that many of the benefits for which we choose to consume them disappear.
Keep in mind that avocado oil and its properties will not be altered by its use in cooking food, making it the best option for use on the grill, in frying pans, moulds, dressings, pastas,...
